"When Santa needs help from a pal he
knows well, he always counts on his
friend... OLE PAPA NOEL
Santa Knows about reindeer and snow,
and holiday lights that twinkle and gleaux.
But only Papa Noel knows how to get
Through the swamps that are piney,
With his pirogue led by Gator Pierre and his
One tooth that's shiny!
Just like Santa, Papa Noel works night and
Day working for others, never asking for
Pay. He's busy making toys for the kids,
Christmas' coming soon, while his friends
the elves polish the "Wishing doubloons."
In Louisiana, it wouldn't be Christmas
Without having a party, and the elves love
to hear Papa laugh loud and hearty. So
MawMaw Noel makes a pot of gumbo and
Rice, and wraps all the presents so they'll
Look real nice.
Then Papa Noel Grabs the Doubloons, for
The sweet girls and boys, and loads his
Pirouge with presents and toys. Then yells
For his gators...here Theriot, Fontenot,
Thibodeaux, c'mon Breaux Get Bourgois,
and Arceneaux, and don't forget Meaux.
Then came Benoit, and leading the bunch
Was Slick Ole Pierre, with his bright shiny
Tooth, they were sure to get there. They'd
visit the homes of each child who'd been
Good, and done lots of sweet things like a
Real Cajun should.
He brings gifts to their door, pulled in a
Shiny red wagon, with the help of Pierre,
Whose poor tail was draggin'. but Papa
won't let them quit'til the job was through,
"There's not many houses left, just one or
two."
Papa Noel's heart is happy and full as he
Goes about his giving. sharing his love, his
Talents, just happy volunteering. children
Will wake knowing Papa Noel's been in the
Room from all of the presents, and the
Shiny doubloon!
But Papa Noel chuckles, knowing he
Couldn't have done it alone. "With good
Friends like this I'm glad I call Louisiana
Home! Cuz it really is true that the best
Part of living is alive and well in the
Spirit of giving!"

Due to the growing request for gift bags, the Volunteer Center Board has committed itself to providing more gift bags. The Volunteer Center's Mission Statement is to "Mobilize People and Resources to Deliver Creative Solutions to Community Problems." We cannot reach our goals or even exist without our friends. The Volunteer Center SWLA through the lovable PAPA NOEL will...
- Give hundreds of area children a wonderful holiday gift bag filled with toys that inspire curiosity
- Spread the message of volunteerism and the "joy of giving back" to area youth
- Distribute gift bags to randomly selected schools and child care faculties in the 5-parish area
- Emphasize the need for volunteers in the home, city, state and nation
